This position offers a $5,000-$10,000 sign-on bonus! This position is also eligible for quarterly bonuses under Rarebreed’s profit-sharing program!


Excellent opportunity to assist a Board Certified Surgeon, work with a friendly, close and collaborative team, and live and work in scenic, coastal Maine! 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-surgical diagnostics lab tests
  • Prepare and scrub surgical sites for sterile procedures
  • Assist the Surgeon during surgeries
  • Alert the Surgeon with any changes in patient’s status
  • Perform radiographs and laboratory analyses
  • Hand out necessary surgical tools during surgery
  • Place and maintain catheters (central and peripheral venous and urinary)
  • Bandage wounds
  • Change wound dressings as needed
  • Maintain and clean equipment/environment on a daily basis.
  • Communicate with referring veterinarian staff
  • Communicate and work closely with all of MVMC's technical staff as well as doctors.
  • Interact with clients to give patient updates, financial updates, and to manage patient visits
  • Calculate and administer scheduled medications, continuous infusions, and blood products
  • Record all treatments and patient status observations 


Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) or License (LVT) preferred but not required
  • Must have a positive attitude and be a team player
