MVMC is seeking a full-time, Licensed Veterinary Technician for its well-established Internal Medicine Department. Preference will be given to candidates with Internal Medicine experience, but we are willing train the right candidate. We will accept technicians of other credentialing, such as Certified Veterinary Technicians and Registered Veterinary Technicians, as well as highly experienced non-credentialed technicians which the state of Maine recognizes as Veterinary Assistants.

 

$2500 sign on bonus!

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compile history of symptoms, medications, diagnostic tests and results.
  • Work with DVM to create Medical Plans.
  • Discuss testing and treatment options with Clients.
  • Calculate and administer medications (PO / SQ / IM / IV).
  • Place and maintain peripheral catheters.
  • Charge for all testing, treatments and procedures.
  • Alert DVM to changes in patient's status or concerns.
  • Perform radiographs, laboratory testing and packaging samples for send out labs.
  • Perform doppler and oscillometric blood pressure testing.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work space.
  • Maintain and clean Specialized Scope and Ultrasound equipment.

 

Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
  • Associates Degree in veterinary technology or a related field.
  • Should be proficient in Anesthetic induction, monitoring, maintenance (including mechanical ventilation) and recovery.
  • Strong Clinical skills.
  • Excellent Communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and well organized.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Self-motivated, friendly, professional, compassionate, team-oriented.
  • Ability to handle stressful and emergent situations in a calm and supportive manner.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including staying late for emergencies with some Saturdays needed.
